Manuals & Guidelines

PEQAB’s Manuals will now be updated in January and September of each year. Each year, the current and previous year’s editions of the materials will be clearly indicated and available on the website for applicants’ reference.

Applicants may indicate at the time of submission to the Ministry whether they wish to be assessed using the current materials or the materials from the previous year. Applicants must prepare their entire submissions according to either the current or previous year’s materials, not both.

Legislatively mandated changes and changes directed by the Board to be effective immediately will be posted as such on the PEQAB website. Such changes will be effective at the time of posting and used in the assessment of applications.

For 2023 these will include but may not be limited to the following:

  • Program content is to include knowledge of Indigeneity, that is First Nations, Métis and/ or Inuit cultures.
  • Applications referred after September 2023 will be subject to updated criteria for Program Advisory Committee (PAC) membership, specifically the inclusion of an academic member external to the institution.
  • Applicants are also encouraged to take note of clarified processes for determining the proportion of faculty members holding the terminal credentials, both in the core and non-core fields of study.
